Knife Safety: Respect the Blade

Jan 28, 2026 | Education, Safety

At WK Forgeworks, every knife we forge is made to perform—sharp, balanced, and built to last. With that level of craftsmanship comes responsibility. A quality blade deserves proper respect and safe handling.

Always cut away from your body and keep your fingers clear of the blade’s path. A sharp knife is actually safer than a dull one, as it requires less force and gives you better control. When not in use, store your knife in a sheath, block, or magnetic holder—never loose in a drawer.

Keep blades clean and dry to prevent corrosion, and never leave a knife soaking in water where it can’t be seen. When handing a knife to someone, offer the handle first and make eye contact to ensure a safe exchange.

A well-made knife is a powerful tool, not a toy. Treat it with care, maintain it properly, and it will serve you safely and reliably for years to come.
