About the Show
Four smiths are tasked with creating signature blades from 1095 steel. As time ticks by, new parameters will be added, keeping the smiths on their toes. Ultimately, two smiths make it back to their home forges to recreate one of the longest swords in the forge, the Chinese Zhanmadao. Which smith will forge a blade worthy of $10,000 and the title of Forged in Fire Champion, will it be Scott Helms?
My Experience on the show
What I took away and/or learned from my experience on FIF.
I learned that our mind is our biggest enemy, and that we, at times, need to shut off the outside world, put our heads down, and just do the best we can with the knowledge and skills we have at our disposal. It reinforced to me the value of a smile and a positive attitude during stressful situations. Even though I was the best 3rd place contestant ever, I was able to walk down that exit hall holding my head high, knowing I put it all on the line and held nothing back. I was so proud of what I accomplished and what my abilities actually were that I went home and ordered my first touchmark to put my name on all of my work after that moment. I felt that I had enough confidence in my abilities to proudly put my name on my knives and stand behind the quality work that I produce.
